On 11 September 2024, Uruguay's Chamber of Representatives (lower house of General Assembly) approved the ratification of the pending income and capital tax treaty with Colombia. The treaty, signed 19 November 2021, is the first of its kind between the two countries. It will enter into force on the last day of the month following the exchange of the ratification instruments and will apply from 1 January of the year following its entry into force.
