Congress has enacted the American Recovery and Investment Act 2009 designed to provide emergency stimulus to the US economy. The bill was signed by the President and became law on 17 February 2009. It is the largest ever such bill and includes a number of temporary investment incentives, as follows: -   Five-year carryback of net operating loss (NOL) of small businesses. The maximum NOL carryback period is extended from 2 years to up to 5 years.
