While speaking during the Conservative Party conference, which began 30 September, UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Philip Hammond has stated that the UK Government is ready to take unilateral action on the taxation of the digital economy if international consensus is not reached soon. Considerations for unilateral action reportedly include a turnover tax on digital services, which has also been proposed at the level of the EU.
