The United States has withdrawn from negotiations for the UN Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation, citing concerns over the process and potential impacts on national tax policies. The withdrawal from the negotiations was announced during a meeting of the organizational session of the intergovernmental negotiating committee on 3 February 2025. In announcing the withdrawal, the U.S. delegate to the UN emphasized that the negotiations were inconsistent with U.S. priorities and represented unwelcome overreach.
