U.S. President Trump has decided to implement tariffs effective 1 June 2018 on steel and aluminum imports from Canada, Mexico, and the EU. The tariffs, which apply at a rate of 25% on steel and 10% on aluminum, were implemented 23 May 2018, although a temporary suspension was allowed for certain countries and the EU. Because the U.S. was unable to reach satisfactory arrangements with Canada, Mexico, and the EU, the suspension is lifted, and the tariffs apply.
