U.S. President Trump issued executive orders on 6 March 2025 that pause the recently introduced tariffs on imports from Canada and Mexico. The tariffs are paused for products covered by the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Concluded during Trump's first term in office, the USMCA allows goods to move between the three countries tariff-free if certain conditions are met, including that a product is made entirely in North America or is substantially transformed in North America, if it is made of components from other countries.
