U.S. IRS Posts Updated FAQs on the FATCA Registration System and the FFI List

On 1 August 2014, the U.S. IRS posted updated FAQs on the FATCA Registration System and the Foreign Financial Institution (FFI) List. The FATCA Registration system is a secure, web-based system that Financial Institutions may use to register as a Participating Foreign Financial Institution, a Registered Deemed-Compliant FFI, a Limited FFI, or a Sponsoring Entity. The FII List includes all financial institutions and branches that have registered and have been assigned a Global Intermediary Identification Number for FATCA purposes.
