On 12 January 2016, the Turkmen parliament approved the pending income tax treaty with Finland. The treaty, signed 12 December 2015, is the first of its kind directly between the two countries. The 1987 income tax treaty between Finland and the former Soviet Union had applied in respect of Turkmenistan, but was terminated. Additional details of the treaty will be published once available.
