On 23 June 2010, the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced in the Official Gazette that according to the Exchange of Verbal Notes between Spain and Kazakhstan made in Madrid on 3 June and 8 July 2008, the income and capital tax treaty between Spain and former USSR signed on 1 March 1985, in relations between Kazakhstan and Spain, is not applicable as of 8 July 2008.
