On 18 March 2008, the Ministry of Finance announced that the European Commission had approved the tax relief under Art. 184 of the Bulgarian Corporate Income Tax Law. The relief is in the form of remission of corporate income tax for production activities in depressed regions, subject to state aid rules. The relief is approved as admissible regional state aid and applies retroactively to profits made as of 1 January 2007. The relief is approved until 31 December 2013 when the current regional aid map expires.
