On 15 October 2019, officials from Chile and Hong Kong met to discuss bilateral investment and trade and agreed to begin negotiations for an income tax treaty. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two jurisdictions and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
