According to a release from San Marino's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, officials from San Marino and Uzbekistan met on 3 February 2021 to sign an agreement on the establishment of diplomatic relations. The release also notes that the two sides have begun the process for the negotiation of an income tax treaty, as well as a tax information exchange agreement. Any resulting treaty/agreement would be the first of their kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
