On 14 September 2022, the Swiss National Council (lower house of parliament) approved the ratification of the pending social security agreement with the United Kingdom. The agreement was signed on 9 September 2021 in order to continue the coordination of the social security systems of the two countries following the UK's withdrawal from the EU, which ended the application of the agreement on the free movement of persons between Switzerland and the EU in relation to Switzerland and the UK.
