According to recent reports, a proposed special tax on soft drinks has been introduced in Slovenia to reduce the consumption of unhealthy beverages. The tax would be levied at a rate of €0.05 to €0.20 depending on the sugar content of the beverage. Beverages for babies and beverages with no added sugar or sweeteners would be exempt from the tax.
