The Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) published updated guidance on the tax residence status of companies and permanent establishments in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The update includes an extension of the temporary rules regarding tax residence and permanent establishment to include year of assessment (YA) 2022, in addition to YA 2021, as well as an extension to 30 June 2021 for the unplanned presence of employees in Singapore in relation to the creation of a permanent establishment (from 31 December 2020).
