The Government of Sao Tome and Principe has reportedly announced that it will introduce a new VAT regime to replace the current consumption tax regime as agreed to with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The VAT regime is to be implemented in 2023, with an expected standard rate of 15%, as well as a lower rate for supplies of certain basic goods. Further details will be published once available.
