On 18 June 2009, Switzerland and the United States initialed an amending protocol to the income tax treaty of 2 October 1996. Background of the revision is the decision of the Swiss Federal Council to extend the administration assistance granted to be in line with standard set in Art. 26 of the OECD Model.
