On 17 December 2013, the amending protocol, signed on 24 August 2012, to the Malta - South Africa Income Tax Treaty (1997), entered into force. The protocol generally applies from 17 December 2013, with exception of Article II of the protocol, which applies in South Africa from 1 April 2012.
