The first-time income and capital tax treaty and protocol between New Zealand  and Austria 2006, entered into force on 1 December 2007. The treaty generally applies in Austria from 1 January 2008 for other taxes and 1 March 2008 for withholding taxes, and in New Zealand from 1 March 2008 for withholding taxes and 1 April 2008 for other taxes.
