The UK Government has published a joint declaration with Portugal on bilateral cooperation. Among other things, the joint declaration provides that the two countries are committed to work towards finalizing a new income tax treaty. The new treaty must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force and, once in force and effective, will replace the 1968 tax treaty between the two countries.
