According to a release published by the Finnish Tax Administration on 1 July 2014, Norway has terminated the 1989 inheritance and gift tax treaty between the Nordic countries. The termination is effective 22 August 2014. The treaty provides for the avoidance of double taxation for inheritance and gift tax. It was terminated in Sweden in 2007, and is still in effect for Denmark, Finland, and Iceland.
