Nigeria Expands Scope of VAT Exempt Supplies

Nigeria's Ministry of Finance has reportedly issued the Value Added Tax (Modification) Order 2021, which is effective retroactively from 30 July 2021. The order expands and clarifies the scope of VAT exempt supplies provided under the first schedule to the VAT Act. Changes include the addition of the following as VAT-exempt goods in part 1 of the schedule: Petroleum products; Renewable energy equipment; Raw materials for the production of baby diapers and sanitary towels; Raw materials for the production of pharmaceutical products; Locally produced animal feeds; Military hardware, arms, ammunition, and locally manufactured military uniforms used by the Armed forces,...
