The Nigerian government reportedly confirmed on 19 June 2023 that the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has instructed the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) to begin charging VAT at the rate of 7.5% on automobile gas oil, otherwise known as diesel, imported into the country.
