According to recent reports, Mauritania's president has ordered various tax relief measures to mitigate the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This includes an exemption from taxes and customs duties on basic foodstuffs until 31 December 2020, including on wheat, oils, powdered milk, vegetables, and fruits. Further, a municipal tax exemption has been provided for liberal professions and small businesses for two months and an exemption from all taxes has been provided for heads of households working in the traditional fishing sector for the rest of 2020.
