Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Economy and Finance has announced that officials from Kyrgyzstan and the Netherlands met on 1 September 2021 to discuss continued negotiations for an income tax treaty. Any resulting treaty will be the first of its kind directly between the two countries and must be signed and ratified before entering into force. The 1986 tax treaty between the Netherlands and the former Soviet Union had applied in respect of Kyrgyzstan and the Netherland but ceased to apply in Kyrgyzstan from 1 January 2010 and in the Netherlands from 1 January 2019.
