On 8 February 2019, the Kazakhstan government published a draft resolution that authorizes the Ministry of Finance to sign a draft income tax treaty concluded with Cyprus in May 2019. The treaty will be the first of its kind directly between the two countries and must be signed and ratified before entering into force. A prior treaty between Cyprus and the former Soviet Union had applied in respect of Kazakhstan but was terminated.
