Kazakhstan's state budget for 2024-2026 was reportedly approved on 5 December 2023, which includes the monthly calculation index (MCI) and the monthly minimum wage for social security purposes for 2024. The MCI is increased from KZT 3,400 to KZT 3,692 for 2024 and is used for several tax-related purposes, including in relation to penalties, minimum investments for certain incentives, the VAT registration threshold, and others. The monthly minimum wage is increased from KZT 70,000 to KZT 85,000 for 2024 and is used primarily in relation to the monthly contribution basis caps for social insurance, health insurance, and pension contributions.
