On 12 March 2020, the Kazakhstan Senate approved the ratification of the pending agreement with Armenia on the recognition of documents for proof of tax residence. The agreement was signed on 22 August 2018 as an exchange of notes under the 2006 Armenia-Kazakhstan tax treaty and provides that a residency certificate issued by the authorities of either Contracting State and certified with an official seal will be accepted in the other State and recognized as an official document without the need for any further certification, including apostille or consular legalization.
