Indonesia's Ministry of Finance has announced that it is currently drafting various technical regulations for implementing the country's new carbon tax, which is planned to be implemented on 1 July 2022. As previously reported, the carbon tax was approved as part of the 2022 Budget tax reform measures and was originally planned to be implemented in April 2022. The tax is based on market pricing per kg of CO2 equivalent on goods and activities with greenhouse gas emissions, with a floor rate of IDR 30 per kg that will initially apply for coal power plants.
