On 5 November 2020, the German Bundestag (lower house of parliament) approved the law for the ratification of the pending protocol to the 2004 income and capital tax treaty with Singapore. The protocol, signed 9 December 2019, is the first to amend the treaty and will enter into force once the ratification instruments are exchanged and generally apply from 1 January of the year following its entry into force.
