On 3 March 2023, Finnish President Sauli Niinistö signed the Mining Mineral Tax Act (HE 281/2022) into law, which provides for the introduction of a new mining tax on minerals extracted in Finland. The tax is a simple and formulaic payment in the nature of a royalty.
