On 9 October 2012, the Governments of Guernsey, Isle of Man and Jersey announced their intention to negotiate for inter-governmental partnership agreements with the United States to implement the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA). The three Crown Dependencies will jointly negotiate with the United States the details of the agreements, which will follow the model intergovernmental agreement released by the US Treasury Department on 26 July 2012 and will be similar to the agreement signed between the United Kingdom and the United States on 12 September 2012.
