On 16 April 2018, officials from the Czech Republic and Kyrgyzstan met for a further round of negotiations for an income tax treaty. Negotiations for a treaty have been ongoing for several years, with the latest draft initialed in 2014. However, because the Kyrgyzstan government has decided it is not satisfied with the initialed draft, further negotiation is needed. Any treaty ultimately signed will be the first of its kind between the two countries, and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
