The Croatian government announced its decision on 30 September 2020 to authorize the negotiation of an income tax treaty with the United States. As previously reported, a draft proposal for an income tax treaty was presented by the U.S. during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Zdravko Marić and U.S. Ambassador to Croatia Robert Kohorst on 3 September 2020. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
