Costa Rica's Legislation Assembly reportedly approved the new tax information exchange agreement with the U.S. on 13 August 2019. The agreement, signed 20 April 2019, is in line with the OECD standard for information exchange and, once in force and effective, will replace the 1989 agreement between the two countries. The agreement will enter into force one month after the ratification instruments are exchanged and will generally apply from the date of its entry into force for tax periods beginning on or after that date.
