China's Ministry of Finance issued a release on 11 April 2025 announcing an increase in tariffs on U.S. goods from 84% to 125%, following the Trump Administration's increase in total tariffs on Chinese goods to 145% while pausing higher reciprocal tariffs on all other countries for 90 days. The increase by China is effective 12 April 2025. The release also indicates that China will not increase tariffs further even if the U.S. continues to impose higher tariffs, although other countermeasures may be taken.
