Burundi Approves Pending East African Community Tax Treaty

On 3 June 2020, Burundi's National Assembly (lower house of parliament) approved the pending East African Community (EAC) income tax treaty, which was signed on 30 November 2010 with other EAC members Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, and Tanzania. The treaty will enter into force after the ratification procedures have been completed by all countries and will apply from 1 January of the year following its entry into force. Note - South Sudan is also a member of the EAC but is not a signatory to the treaty.
