As previously reported, a draft bill was submitted in the Bulgarian parliament on 4 May 2020 that would extend the 9% reduced VAT rate to support the restaurant and catering sector, which has been heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Further draft bills have recently been submitted that would extend the 9% rate to additional supplies, including for books, textbooks, and teaching aids, including e-versions, as well as fitness centers and gyms, baby foods and children's pharmaceuticals, other medicinal products and medical devices, and tourism services.
