On 24 June 2022, the National Council of Bhutan (upper house of parliament) issued a brief release announcing that it has rejected the Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2022. The bill, approved by the National Assembly (lower house) on 20 June, provides for the deferral of the implementation of the country's new GST regime from 1 July 2022 to 1 July 2024.
