On 19 April 2018, the Belarus House of Representatives (lower house of parliament) approved for ratification the pending income and capital tax treaty with the UK. The treaty was signed on 26 September 2017 ({News-2017-09-28/T/3-previous coverage}) and, once in force and effective, will replace the 1985 tax treaty between the UK and the former Soviet Union as it applies in respect of Belarus and the UK.
