On 23 January 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court granted the government's motion to stay a nationwide injunction issued by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas (previous coverage). Despite this, the U.S. Treasury Department's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) has published an alert on its BOI webpage announcing that reporting companies are still not required to file beneficial ownership information but may do so voluntarily.
