On 15 July 2020, Austria's Federal Council (upper house of parliament) approved the bill for the ratification of the pending protocol to the 2011 tax treaty with Tajikistan. The bill was approved by the National Council (lower house) on 7 July. The protocol, signed 13 March 2013, amends the final protocol signed with the treaty in regard to the application for Article 26 (Exchange of Information) in order to comply with OECD standards on tax transparency and assistance. The protocol will enter into force once the ratification instruments are exchanged and will generally apply from that date.
