On 8 November 2018, Austria's Federal Council (upper house of parliament) approved the ratification of the pending income tax treaty with Kosovo, which was approved by the National Council (lower house) on 24 October. The treaty, signed 8 June 2018 ({News-2018-08-03/T/4-previous coverage}), is the first of its kind between the two countries and will enter into force once the ratification instruments are exchanged and will apply from 1 January of the year following its entry into force.
