On 23 May 2018, Austria's Council of Ministers authorized the signing of an income tax treaty with Kosovo and an amending protocol to the 2000 income and capital tax treaty with Russia. The treaty with Kosovo will be the first of its kind between the two countries. The protocol to the treaty with Russia will be the first to amend the treaty and will reportedly update Article 26 (Exchange of Information) to bring it in line with the OECD standard for information exchange and add a new limitation on benefits article.
