The Argentine tax authority (AFIP) has issued a release announcing that the U.S. IRS has confirmed that Argentina has the appropriate data security measures and infrastructure in place to effectively carry out the first automatic exchange of financial information under the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between Argentina and the U.S. for the implementation of FATCA. The IGA entered into force on 1 January 2023 and the first exchange of information is scheduled for September 2024.
