On 27 December 2017, Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika signed into law the Finance Act for 2018. The tax measures of the law are relatively limited, and include a VAT and customs duty exemption for specified input materials used to manufacture medical products, the removal of the VAT exemption for certain services for ships and aircraft (subject to 19% rate from 2018), the increase of excise taxes on petroleum fuels and tobacco products, and various other changes.
