On 20 November 2023, Albanian President Bajram Begaj promulgated the law for the ratification of the pending social security agreement with Bulgaria. The agreement was signed by Albania on 15 March 2023 and by Bulgaria on 30 March 2023. It will enter into force on the first day of the third month after the ratification instruments are exchanged and, once in force and effective, will replace the 1952 agreement between the two countries.
