On 24 November 2014, officials from Austria and Belarus signed a protocol to the 2001 income and property tax treaty between the two countries. The protocol is the first to amend the treaty. It updates the competent authority for Belarus and brings the exchange of information article in line with the OECD standard. The protocol will enter into force on the first day of the third month following the exchange of the ratification instruments, and will apply in regard to tax periods beginning on or after 1 January of the year following its entry into force.
