The UK has published the European Union (Withdrawal) (No. 2) Act 2019, which was enacted on 9 September 2019. The Act essentially provides that whether the UK concludes a withdrawal agreement with the EU or will leave the EU without an agreement, Parliamentary approval is required in either case by 19 October 2019. If the condition is not met, the Prime Minister is required to seek to obtain from the European Council an extension of the exit period to 31 January 2020.
