UK HMRC has announced that it is stepping up efforts to ensure businesses are ready to trade post-Brexit by automatically enrolling companies for an Economic Operator Registration Identification (EORI) number. If businesses do not have an EORI number post-Brexit, they will be unable to continue to trade with EU Member States. According to HMRC, approximately 72,000 VAT registered companies have already registered for EORI numbers, with more than 80,000 to be automatically enrolled in the next two weeks.
